Melamine?
Sealed MDF?
Sealed Plywood?

Looking for:

1) Best quality for price
2) How long it will last
3) Doesn't chip or splinter when cut

Cheers,
Alex

I love melamine. It basically comes pre-waterproofed and it looks nice (if cold white is your cup of tea :p). Cutting it with an aggressive wood saw can lead to chipping but masking tape helps reduce that.

Hi Alex,

I use Marine Plywood and seal it with a water based varnish. Most companies that sell it will cut it to order so all you have to do is glue and screw. Make sure you order a decent board thickness so that your screws have heaps to bite into. Marine Plywood comes in a range of different colours and looks great after varnishing.

Best of luck,
Nick
