A friend in my TAFE course would like to get an egg-eating snake but as far as I'm aware, they aren't legal due to them not being a native animal. Is this true?

We do not have any Egg eating Snake species here. Closest thing would be a Legless Lizard eating some crushed up chicken egg

There are some Australian snakes which eat eggs, particularly reptile eggs, but they're not easy to keep. The extremely specialised egg eating species are from Africa and can't be legally obtained in Australia. They're also very difficult to breed and I've never heard of anyone in Australia having them at all, even zoos. In Europe, Asia and USA they are often available but most if not all are wild caught (usually legally). You're definitely better off looking for a native species.

No, but I do remember a golf ball eating coastal python.

Few australian pythons eat eggs but not exclusively ,ive had a water python eat an egg i offered it ,caught diamond that had a egg in its gut near a dam ,suspect it was from a water hen or duck .Was large and oval until i squished it on examination and it disappeared .
