My sister and I discovered this snake bush walking near Montville, QLD. Initially we thought Keelback however reviewing pictures it's quite clear it lacks a loreal scale. The scales also look different from an Eastern Brown. We're quite confident that it is an Rough Scaled Snake.

Thanks,

Your ID is correct. It is definitely a Rough-scaled snake Tropidechis carinatus. The keeled scales, the straight line of the jaw angle and the olive-brown base colour with feint but visible irregular banding plus the allimportant lackof a loreal scale.

Congratulations on the clarity and focus of the photos. It makes it so much easy to make a positive ID. Well done.
