Hi guys!!
Just wanting some info on the Emerald Tree Monitor. All I know is that their beautiful.
I would like to get one but i think it may fall into the exotic category.
 
youve never heard of it ....its pretty much the maddest monitor ever .i wouldnt think they are under exotic as they are included in reptiles of australia books.
 
it's also called Green Tree Monitor, i'll post some pics up.
 
Specialist permit needed....they are also found on the island surrounding Australia
a few thesis written....google it.....very cool....very costly!....very rare!

Does anyone know how I could get a specialist permit? Or should i just keep dreaming!
 
in melb i dont think they are on the lists so you cant keep em. Not in captivity in aust at this time

I heard that there were a small number in captivity but no one known to have a pair?

peterjohnson is probably the best person to ask about them Aoife, i know he's been looking for one for a long time.

There a possibly a couple in zoo's but as far as i know none in private collections. PJ has been after them for ages so he may have heard something.

None in Captivity. On licence anyway.

No chance of getting them unless JW or a Zoo import them, start breeding etc etc etc. So pretty small chance of anyone owning them, which is a damn shame..
 
That is a shame.They are awesome!I would love to be able to keep one.
Maybe one day things will change?
