Don't know much about monitors, or lizards in general.

Rach you lucky girl, you have a Rosenbergs Monitor (Varanus rosenbergi) in your backyard. Thats a privileged find, thanks for showing us. They use to occur commonly in the Mt Lofty Ranges near Adelaide but are now rare up there, but doing ok on Kangaroo Island. Not sure of their status over in WA, however is a great find.

Nice pics- they are a great looking animal- so solid. I wouldnt want to be prey staring at that first pic from a not-so-safe tree branch
