Oi
I was driving on a little back road for about 5km and seen nothing but cane toads, but then came across this different looking thing... Can anyone tell me what it is please?

I feel like an idiot now... First, to waste my time taking the shot and secondly, posting it on here to find out its a dirty cane toad
Ah well, thanks dude.

he has a boney ridge alone his eyes, parotid glands behind his eye i would say its a bufo. but i have never seen this colour before...

To be honest it actually looks like a American Toad (Bufo americanus) lets hope it isnt though

But it's a nice one Billy, had I found one like that I would photograph the daylights out of it.

If I had of found it I would have put it out of Australias misery..

It was pretty small. About 5cm long id say... maybe its just a juvie colouring or something?

Anyhow... to take the attention away from the dirty toad, i also found this little dude... but once again, have no idea what it is exactly
Im hoping this ones some native rodent and not a introduced pest hahaha. It was a friendly little thing, didnt mind me poking around at all...

Now that is cute ! When we find out what it is , can we also find out if we can keep one ??? lol

baby hedgehog lmfao j/ks

Omg! that is one of the cutest things i have ever seen!
soo small and fluffy hehe and naww, look at its little ears and eyes, i want one!
Good find :) oh and great photo

ZOMG Its so FLUFFY! I'm gunna sell my reptiles just so I can get it! Haha just joking... cough cough

Looks like some type of Psuedomys (Native rodent genus). The toad is typical juvenile patterning for a cane toad. Adult cane toads in South America have highly different, more vivid colouring than Australian ones though, bright purple iradescent patches, really quite beautiful.

"It's so fluffy im gonna die!!!"

looks like a broad toothed mouse (Mastacomys fuscus) to me

on another note, we're dissecting those toads next week after easter break for physio class, can't wait >:D

It is NOT a toad. It is an Ornate Burrowing Frog Limnodynastes ornatus, and only a young fella by the look of him.
