Hey guys just wondering my heat mat is splitting my wooden furniture. Just wondering what i could put under the heat mat to stop this ?

Cheers Daniel....

Glass.
Or we have cardboard and an old pillow case.
Just make sure there is some room for a little air flow.

yeh i have an exo terra tank which is raised off a little i tried having like 6 little towels under it and it still made it through. but i will try that. coz i might b gettin another tank and stuff soon so i dont want to do it again

Cheers D

Why do you need room for air flow?
Sheesh I didn't realise that heat mats can do that to wood. :S *reconsiders own positioning*

i put a sheet of foam under my enclosures .
it helps retain the heat and stops damage
underneath

put some styrofoam underneath. This keeps the heat in the enclosure as well

I use a sheet of melamine over the top of my existing furniture.

but before that i just used tiles above and below the heat matt.

Helps retain heat at night when the heat matts turn off, and also its not so direct on the plastic of the tub or the underneath furniture.

Get a piece of melamine or foam .I have used both and never had a problem .

Foam is the go but watch for an increase in temp on the top of the mat. It can push enough heat up to crack a glass bottom enclosure.

styrafoam works the best
heres a pic of my set up with the styrafoam underneath
sorry its in black and white
i didnt know how to fix the setting hahah
i hope the pic works
