I have a Children's (1 year, 2 months) and am having trouble keeping his enclosure at the right temp. It is a self regulating one with two heat fixtures (I currently have a 75w and a 50w in there), so it heats up to the temperature listed on the dial and then drops off, fairly standard affair. All glass front, with the rest being wood including the floor. It's about 4ft long, 2-3 ft high and wide.

My problem is that it will heat up to around 35c, then turn off and end up dropping to 26-28, then turn back on and I think it is stressing my snake. I have put a blanket on the top to try and keep some heat in and it helped marginally but not enough.

Would it be worth getting a heat mat? I was thinking to put it under the enclosure and hope the heat goes through the wood, or in the enclosure with some fake flooring material (any suggestions for a good material would be appreciated).

Thanks in advance for the responses!

Review the heat source. The thermostat is just doing its job.
Run a lower output heat source so it stays on longer before getting to temp.
