Hey all been a while since posting here but I'm currently in cairns for a week and a half with the wife and a mate. Wondering for any local tips on where to go barra fishing and also where to go to site some salties in the wild? Keen as to see any reptiles at all and snag a barra!

Cheers in advance

Leigh

Leigh, go to the Daintree or better yet to Cooper Creek at Cape Trib. They do croc spotting tours there and you will see some big salties pretty close. Call Ernie on 40332052 to book.

Awesome. Thanks man. Any tips on places to go herping or barra fishing too?

Go barra fishing where there are no crocs. :D
Cape Tribulation is good for herping, although it's very wet there now. Normally you see scrubbies and the odd carpet on the road, brown trees, brown-headed snakes, slaty-greys, and the usual assortment. On the board-walks you may spot a boyds at night sleeping on tree trunks, leaf-tails and if you're really lucky, you may spot a chameleon gecko. Frogs should be everywhere now, also saw-shell turtles in any of the creeks.

Good luck.

I would of thought any street in Cairns and surrounding area you could go fishing...With all this wet weather were having..
