Can anyone identify this Monitor?
It was taken at Gooniwiiggal reserve in Inverell.
I'm thinking it's Varanus gouldi gouldi.
Thanks in advance.
Mitch

Oh thats Jeff, nice lizzard he is.

Tell him i said hi,

Donk

depending on the locality i would say a varanus gouldii flavirufus

The only thing I can think of that looks anything like this one and occurs naturally in Inverell is V.Gouldi Gouldi.

I am not sure of colour forms of Gouldii but if they come in yellow I reckon thats what it looks like... :)

Definately panoptes IMO, unless someone has been going around dosing them up with steroids, most books i have dont even show them going anywhere near southern Qld. Dont believe everything in herp books as the truth.

They used to be considered the smae species over much of their range but they are quite differant IMO.
