As of 1 October 2009, the following new regulations come into effect.




Turtle Carapace (shell) Length

New regulations will mean you can possess and trade turtles/tortoises with a shell length smaller than 10cms




New species available for Private Wildlife (Basic) Licence holders

The species listed below currently requires a Private Wildlife (Advanced) Licence for private possession and trade.

If this is the ONLY species you keep, as of 1 October 2009, you will no longer require a private (Advanced) Wildlife Licence, rather you will need a Private (Basic) Wildlife Licence.

Southern Angle-headed Dragon (Hypsilurus spinipes)




New Species available to Private Wildlife (Advanced) Licence holders

Private Wildlife (Advanced) License holders will be permitted to keep the following species as of 1 October 2009.

Arafura File Snake (Acrochordus arafurae)
Boyd's Forest Dragon (Hypsilurus boydii)
Centralian Knob-tailed Gecko (Nephrurus amyae)
Downs Bearded Dragon (Pogona henrylawsoni)
Golden-tailed Gecko (Strophurus taenicauda)
Prickly Knob-tailed (Nephrurus asper)
Pygmy Python (Antaresia perthensis)
Rough-scaled Python (Morelia carinata)
Rough-throated Leaf-tailed Gecko (Saltuarius salebrosus)
No Common Name (Saltuarius swaini)

Magnificent Tree Frog (Litoria spendida)
