I would be interest to know how complete the shark fossils were, as chondrichthyans (sharks and rays) are primarily made up of cartilage and it is quite rare for complete animals to fossilize as normally only the teeth remain.
I have seen 1 complete fossil shark which was also from Scotland found in a bed of shale in Glasgow.
