In addition, you stated earlier your already a moderator on another unrelated site so know whats required and have experience.

Yeah I'd do it if asked, it's not that big of a deal. People seem to think being a mod is all exciting and special and stuff, but really it's not, just a whole bunch of housekeeping. Some people would be surprised at the amount of work it takes to keep a forum running smoothly.

Thanks to everyone who suggested I'd be a good mod, you're absolutely right i would. :lol: But i think the title of this thread may have been a bit misleading. Perhaps i should have titled it 'Moderate Us' instead, as it was not my intention to nominate myself to be a mod. Whilst I'd be happy to do something similar to what Col suggested ('deputy mod') and get rid of the really bad stuff during the nights and then leave it for the actual mods to deal with, i don't want to be an actual moderator. I already have enough death threats as it is and I'm not looking to increase that number anytime soon. Also, as with Pythoninfinite, Greebo hates me and probably with good reason (remember that thread about the cheerleaders abducting me? :lol: ahh good times...). Anyways, although i would never have been offered the job in the first place, i would have to respectfully decline.

Why does it matter how many posts you have? Ithought this site had diverse interests ranging from Scientific, hobbyists,learners to people wanting to socialise with like minded people.It takes all type for an open forum to work effectively it shouldn't matter if someone has made 200 posts just saying hello to people, who cares maybe they are lonely and trying to make freinds.
This is not an attack on anyone i just think that we should look at it a different way.

Greebo hates me

I can honestly say that Greebo has never made any noise about disliking or hating any member of this site. For all the time I was a mod he acted without bias and probably gave more people a second chance than deserved it. He isnt vindictive and Ive seen him cop some real ***** over the years and from some people who a lot meaner than any of you lot. He has stuck around through all sorts of crap and if it was me I'd walk, which I did. If anyone deserves praise on this site its Dave.
There have been hundreds of dropkicks on this site who have been dealt with by Greebo over the years and in every case it is because of the content of their posts not their personalities.

Indeed Peter, i gave Greebo many a reason to hate me, so i don't hold it against him. I agree also that Greebo deserves a round of applause for putting up with the **** for so long. Good on ya Greebs.

Of course there is much that could be better but I must say this site is darn sight better than others I've been to, and I'm not just talking about reptile forums. Any of you here been to Dogz Online? I would vote that site the worse site ever. The moderators there don't even discipline bad language, and the abuse ppl receive from each other is appauling. I joined but never bothered posting because what I've read is enough to tell me to stay away. APS has a lot of members & short staffed but I still think it is looked after pretty good. Sure it could do with more moderators, the more makes a better site for everyone, but thats for the owner to decide and everyone else to respect it.

If the mature ppl could act mature and ignore the airheads and trouble stirrers there wouldn't be as much crap that needs to be dealt with.
