I have deliberately deleted the thread "Advice needed" as it is just this bullshit that is trying to destroy the site.

Any more accusations without substance such as the thread I just witnessed will be dealt with as harshly.

I have had enough and I am going to get this site back to what it was!

Hmmmmmmm A tuff guy eh??Me thinks you may need to come up with a new avitar. The current one just dont fit the new image. :p

The Nazi Regime begins!!

This will probably be deleted now.

It was probably a good idea though.Things were starting to get a bit nasty.

:)

For what it's worth, you have my support, Hawkeye.

I've been dreading the day when the posts reached that level of crap, and I don't see that you had any choice.

Greebo: That is my second moderation effort and I felt as you noted that it was getting out of control. Don't call people Nazis as it tends to piss them off on occasion. Secondly you are entitles to your opinion and thats why I left this announcement thread open.

Mark: APS was out Friday night (couldn't get on) and when I noticed it Saturday night (first time I got onto the computer) then I deleted it. If there is some question about my ability to moderate then I will happily step down.

I agree with Mark,
As the site grows in polularity so does the members that participate in the forums. Not every member will be genuine/sincere about our hobby and alot of posts will need to be modified or deleted as necessary.I feel that the moderators as well as individual everyday members of this community (APS) have obligations to fill in order to keep this site the best source of information/socialisation for us herp hobbyists.

It was just a joke, if you read the rest of the post you would see I actually agree with what you did but you were probably already typing by then. You are obviously not a Seinfeld fan as the reference went right over your head.
It was just a light hearted jibe Hawkeye, don't take it to heart.
I got called a newbie.....thats far worse in my opinion....should I be pissed off too?

Sie Nazis aufweisen kein die betduetung aus die stimmung!

Definately need a modified avatar Hawks maybe a patch would make the old man of the forest a little more menacing (catch the patch needs more members what with this rival glove party and all).

I don't like the garbage that's going on it seems that there is something in some of us that gets lit up when certain types of things are said.

The topics are for example:
Illegal trade, Theft, Breeders Choice, bad language, bad attitude to name a few.

Then there are people that want to cause a wind up which escalates really quickly. Everyone has their own 'strong' opinions and most peole want to share them. This site used to be much more fun than it is now and I definately spend less time on it than I did in the past. I think we do need to be more active in cutting out the rubbish as soon as it starts. I also think that if less people bought into the junk we'd see less involvement by the morons attempting the windup.

You have my support Hawkeye. 8)

>I also think that if less people bought into the junk we'd see less >involvement by the morons attempting the windup.

that can also work against content control... the more that these types of people think they are causing a stir the more fun they get out of it.

preemptive ? to moderate in this style really is more than impractical
every post at some stage either wanders off topic or ends up with some style of personal content.,everytime somone gives a personal opinion that opens them for a personal attack by others that feel they are wrong.
preemptive moderation requires post to be stoped on speculation.
may as well make the form posting conditions as proven fact only and delete any post that contain personal ,opinions , views and or details.

hell the fact that this thread alone is on the forum is enough to show the stirers they have upset the apple cart. Just the entertainment they were serching for in the first place.
paul.

I am also against the pre-emptive strike. I only moderate if the message gets personal or just downright stupid. The breeders choice debate for example is something that this forum was designed to start. New people get told about it and can then ask questions. Yes many people have differing views but thats the point!

I have learnt a lot about things here because of this debate that rages on. Yes people will get heated about their pet projects (eg exotics) but thats what makes the world go round. What I won't tolerate is personal attacks or accusations that are not substantiated.

Cheers Hawkeye

PS:
:D Have a nice day

Well done hawkee. Moderate in moderation. Always remember that most important think is not to let some sh.. steerers to hurt others feelings. I started this community with this motto to be a priority. Be nice to each other and tolerant. That means if some people are talking harmless rubbish in the chit chat, let them. After all this forum is fun for some of us silly coconuts ( like afrofish and me) and people who don't like this don't have to visit this forum.
Herp help forum is different-- Strictly herp business and perfect behavior. Looks like you are the right person for the job.
Me and Adam was kicked on slow speed by optus from 15th may till now and to read the forum was nearly impossible. to load each topic took 3 minutes. We are on normal speed now again , but after we over use 3 gigs (our limit), they will do this to us again. Mabe we have to think about another responsible moderator for this forum to make this easier for you. Think with who you would like to cooperate and let me know in moderators forum.

I think some of the more regular members that are here more frequently should be opted for this as many times posts are not being deleted untill night fall. The problem here is these posts linger in the forum for quite some time before the moderators come online. This I feel leaves a bitter taste in many mouths as well as scares off any new visitors we may have.As I see it majority of the moderators that are now assigned work during the day and don't log in untill late at night.
Just a suggestion Slatey!

It was great to catch up with you too Mark - I hope we can do it again sometime! (It was good that Mark didn't have to get the kids till afternoon today too)...

I'm off to snack on some Tim Tams before dinner - thanks again!

Mark i have no trouble with you as moderator, but PM Hawkeye as i like him to pick his partner. It is better if the moderators in the forum are cooperating together. Junior and I will keep an eye out on moderators in general, but will not be moderating any forums in particular.
