Hi everyone,
l just thought l would share a couple off photo's
showing what a medium or large monitor bite
can look like.
Yesterday one of my Females Sand Monitor's
decided that she wanted to try and eat my thum
on my right hand, and l promise you the bite
was paunfull, when l got her to let go.

This same lizard, bitt my left hand in 2003,
on the 23 August, then on the 5 off September
2 weeks later, l ended up with a infection in my
right arm, then on the 19 of September l was
admitted to hospital for 1 week, where they
had to do 2 operations on mt left hand, to get
rid of the infection, in my right arm.

So be carefull when it comes to handling
and feeding medium and large monitor's.

The same thing could happen to you as well.

The female sand monitor, you can see in the middle
facing to the left, is the one that bit my thum on my right
hand.
The other 2 sand monitor's you see facing to the right
a both males.

I spray F10 on any bites I get from most snakes and monitors. They heal well and quickly including a few nips from a lacie.

Doesnt look too bad, how big was the monitor?
my spencers monitor often looks at my toes like they are food, but im not keen to let him have a chew

The size of the female Sand Monitor that bitt
me on Sunday afternoon, is roughly around
80-85cm long, she is fully grown.

l have been bitten are few times by my sandie's
l keep forgetting what they can be like, and l
trust them to much.

They tend to go for me, when l feed them, when
l am trying to stop them getting near each other,
and fighting over food, where they will pinch each
other's food.

lts not easy trying to control 5 adult Sand Monitor's
at feed time, when they all could charge at you at
once for food, then you have to try and seperate
them from each other.
