In your opinion, do you think the monitor broke the enclosure initially. Then, as snakes do, it finds an escape hole and escapes all the way to his death. Expensive meal. I wouldn't put it past him to have calculated the entire plot. Monitors are just way too clever. Love them!

Totally get what he is saying about its a relief to know the life has ended, rather than just an escape. I lost 2 Bells frogs recently, was worried when I thought they escaped and are pro-creating all over my neighbourhood disturbing the eco system. Was kinda relieved when I found their skeletal remains in a dry disconnected tube behind the tanks water feature a month later. Sad lesson. Made a mistake. Learned from it. That's the least you owe for taking the life of the animal.
