Hey

I have a six foot tank that now has a large crack in it:( dam cat.
So that rules out turtles for a bit and now I'm thinking monitors

What are some of the more commonly bought but smaller monitors available???
Something that could be housed in a six foot tank as an adult.
Looking for a tropical semi aquatic species, although will consider a desert species.

BTW using this as a basis of research

Thanks
Jannico

Ackies! They're amazing to watch, real fun animals. Fairly cheap for monitors too. And one of the most commonly kept.

The only semi aquatic species I know off-hand are mertens water monitors, that's way too big, and mangrove monitors, but I never see them for sale and when I do they're like $1.5k each, beautiful though. I think you'll be stuck to find anything aquatic.

dam aquatic is my fetish:p
tropical would be fine too though

And btw thank god some else is awake:p

Varanus mitchelli aka. Mitchell's Water Monitor
-max svl 356mm, total 680mm

you could keep a pair in a 6x2 tank,

Mitchell's Water Monitor sounds perfect:)

Ok so pretty much a mertens but smaller.
Does anyone know the going price for a pair or an individual?
and more importantly a breeder in QLD
