    was looking at the list of reptiles you can keep with a basic licence in south australia and seen that theres some monitors that you can keep. best news for me because i thought you had to have a specialist licence. will be looking into it and migh get one in the next 2 or 3 months. :D

    May I suggest a varanus mertenis or a varanus acanthurus as a first monitor. Both are a relative beginner species and can lead to greater knowledge of monitors through time and effort.

    i picked up a lil ridgie the other day, awesome little fella took me 20sec to name him nitro.8)

    You can keep almost everything on a basic licence except V.Varius & some of the uncommonly kept monitors.

    i really like the varanus acanthurus. i have alot of reserach to do before i i make up my mind though.
