Have recently acquired a juvenile murray darling python. Lays about 1.5m and has a decent head size. Have had the little man for about 6 weeks now and am having trouble with him acclimating to our family.

He always strikes the glass as people walk past, has bitten me one holding on for 5mins and just doesn't seem to be settling at all.

Past owner said he was very placid and always loved dearly but now I'm suspicious of this.

Can anyone provide me hints, tips and info to assist in this situation.

P.s he is eating really well and is very healthy.

let him settle in for a week or 2 before feeding/handling etc

keep him out of a high traffic area

dont annoy him

its very stressful for them as u can imagine, new smells everywhere, new environment

Thanks for the idea he has been in his cage without handling for more than 6 weeks. He has been feed and just doesn't seem to be settling

I run a blackout curtain on the front of my enclosures whenever busy work is happening in their area to reduce disturbing. Just a thought.
