I found this little guy in my house and temporarily moved my scorpion but I don’t know what type of python it is because it looks to me both like a carpet and a spotted python. I really hope it’s the second as I’m going to have to let him go if it’s not.

First of all..
A spotted python is a carpet python.
And second you can’t keep it at all.
You need to buy your snakes not catch them. It’s against the law.
If you’re interested in getting a snake the first thing you need is a licence.

A Spotted Python is not a Carpet Python, they're two very different species and not closely related.

This is a Carpet Python (please note that you should always include a location when asking for an identification).

You shouldn't be putting a wild snake in a cage regardless of species.
