hello everyone,
i recently bought a 6 year old spencer 's monitor, and it is a bit smaller than my other spencer 's i have and my spencer 's is 2 years old. my 2 year old spencer 's is 2 foot. and the 6 year old is 55 CM's long.
also i've been feeding her good, to bulk her up but i'm not sure if she has mbd. as her foot curled back the other day and she was standing on her front wrist.
i guess the guy who i bought it off did not look after her well, and she is small and doesn't have a lot of fat in her tail and legs.
im a bit worried for her. if anyone has any thoughts or good information to help for me that would be great.
heres a few pics of her to show you.
what do you guys think?
all the help would be great.
cheers
branca

Does it act similar to your other Spencers? or is it unusually calm and quiet?

If your worried, book her into the vet and get an x-ray done. If it does have MBD, then you would want to catch it before something like this happens.

This is my lace monitor, I bought her not knowing she had MBD, she bent her snout down from pushing on the glass in her enclosure. She was unusually calm and quiet.

Bummer man. I think I saw the add for this monitor. Small size , crap diet. Hope you can turn it around. Good luck mate!

i would definitely take her to the vet some people just don't understand what lizards need to eat to live I've heard of people feeding dog food to monitors as there complete diet its best to get her checked and start fixing her before its to late

Get her to the vet now, ive been through MBD. and its not pretty.... i strongly recommend getting calcium and vitamin powder and put it on her food, also increase the UV.

she's abit quiet, when I got her she was weak and now that I have been giving her uv and good fattening meats and chicken she's starting to get stronger when I hold her and skittish. how can a monitor get mbd? also how much would a vet cost ? going by the pictures does she look like she has mbd?

my other spencers is alot stronger and fatter and moves around more then te 6yr old

A monitor will get MBD from bad diet e.g. Meat only diets. Monitors need hole small animals e.g. Rats, mice etc. Thoughs food items store the vitamin D3 in there livers and monitors need D3 to absorb calcium.

I can't tell you how much the vet will charge you, prices are diverant depending on where you go, but I would gess $60-$80.

I'm not sure if she has MBD by looking at the photos, get the vet to check her out.

My male spencers is also two and he is nearly 4ft! Whole prey is the answer. Remember whole prey doesn't have to mean whole animals, you can chop larger critters up to make bite size pieces. yummy

i doesnt look like mbd, there feet normally sit n bend like that.If it had mbd it wuld of shown up a lot earlier than now, just needs a good feed of whole prey to put some weight on,i wouldnt be to worried
