Hi, I am interested in finding out if snakes really do dislocate their jaw or do they just have a elastic kind of jaw? I'm asking this because I have heard people saying they don't dislocate their jaw but I have grown up being told they do. Which on is correct, thanks in advance.

From my understanding most non-colubrids dislocate their jaw. If you flip yer snake over and look at its head underneath, you will see a slit. That's there to let the skin expand, allowing it to eat much bigger prey than you'd think. If its really big it will shoot its gloitis (think that's how its spelled) out so it can breathe. Looks like a tube.

Now that's what I understand and have saw, its not gospel.
