I'm interested to see who else has come across some tosser who neglects mistreats or abuses there reptiles.

I have a 10 month old albino Darwin that when I got her was dehydrated and not been fed in months. she has had a check up with the vet and is feeding now and well on her way to being a happy healthy snake.
then yesterday while picking my boy up from seeing his mum she seen the pack of weaner mice and asks how big my snakes are because her best friend has a 2 year old jungle that eats pinkies.
At this point I questioned her about if they were in fact pinkies and why and yes a 2 year old snake eats pinkies because this fool dose not want her snake getting to big.

I posted a thread on here about a bearded dragon who was near death.
The owner only turned the UV light on whenever people asked to see the dragon.
The basking light had blown and not replaced for over a year. The moron thought that tossing a blanket over the pine viv would be a sufficient method to keep his pet warm.
I was alerted to the fact after his ex housemate left and she learnt of the fact that I own a snake

Long story short, it was very rigid when I took possession. It looked horrible and it hardly moved. Now, you look at him and you say, wow. He's active and has a new buddy to play with. They get on like a house on fire.
Eating well, pooing well, shedding well.

He had obtained a reptile licence 4 years ago and he thinks "the book is with my ex", a 4 year ex mind you. "But I paid it 4 years ago, it should be on record"

What!?!?!? What on earth are DEPI doing with the money we pay them? Why wasn't DEPI onto him about his expired licence?
He would not have done his annual report but that didn't ring Amy alarm bells. Sorry, it's nowhere near good enough

Unfortunately it's everywhere. Sometimes it's not even a case of "abuse" but people not willing to educate themselves when it comes to their animals.
I swear that turtles in the ACT have the shortest life expectancy of any turtles because no one is willing to do the research on diet or care, especially when some of the biggest "specialists" in
Canberra are happy to sell these animals but really have no idea on how they need to be cared for. Turtle dinners are (what I think) the biggest issue with these places.

Yeah mate its unbelievable huh... I went to this guys house to buy a one year old frillneck... When I got there it was apparent that there was no heat or UV for this poor thing... Fortunately they are resilient creatures and Im pleased to say he's powering on...

Before... Weighing only 17 grams

3 weeks later weighing in at 30 grams :)

Terrible. It's a $30 globe every 6 months. A good CHE will last for ages. People are cruel. If you lose interest in the pet, re-home it.
Its health is far more important than your pride, all day long.

Yeah that's right... You can pick up Phillips floodlights from bunnings $3... Inexcusable really...

Awesome job. Spyro is a pretty dragon. He looks great. Well done

A friend of mine who now is not my friend got a bearded dragon.

I told her how to care for him, how many crickets and how much supplements etc. All the advice you would need to make sure it grows well. But nope she took none of it on board, she said she was going to but never did.

When I asked a a couple months down the track how he was doing, she told me he died because the light socket melted and dripped onto his foot, it went rancid, fell off and then he eventually died. When I asked her why didn't she take him to the vet she said he was fine one moment then she woke up and he was dead. Now I know for a fact that beardies aren't running around, eating and pooping one minute then dead the next. Unless its something really wrong (which I can assure you there wasn't).

She basically just neglected him till he died, and didn't take him to the vet for whatever reason. This infuriated me to the point where I couldn't be friends with her anymore.

I've just now seen that she has gotten herself a dog.... (the last one had mange)... NOT going there.

I agree, you would not believe the amount of times I go into a pet store to buy crickets or other food and see underweight and unhealthy animals. I have even seen bearded's missing limbs and ends of their tails because they were housed incorrectly with other bearded's.

Most pet shops just want money.

They couldnt care less about the welfare of the animal

Sadly they only exist to make money at the detriment to the animals the owners* pretend they care about. The major chains are some of the worst offenders.

*I say owners becausemost of the sales associates have a genuine love for animals.
