Tomorrow night (Wednesday) is the monthly Sydney meeting of the Australian Herpetological Society. All are welcome. Bring a friend if you like :)

This should be a very interesting discussion.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The usual details (where, when etc..) are as follows 8)
Free entry for first-timers. $5 every visit after that, or membership to the AHS starts at $25 for a year. You can download an application form here
It's a small investment to help support the reptile community in Sydney.
And members gain free entry into the Australian Reptile Park out at Somersby
The meeting is held at the Australian Museum, opposite Hyde Park in Sydney.
You can get off Museum station, and simply cross the park. But it's also easy enough to walk from Townhall station, whatever's easiest.
Enter via these stairs (LINKY) on William St. Just ask the security to point you towards the AHS meeting location. Doors open at 7pm.
IMPORTANT:
Ask the security guard at the front door to point you to the meeting location, say you're with the herpetological society. If you're a tad too early he may ask you to wait in the foyer. If that's the case, wander down to the pub just down William St (see below) and you might find myself there ;)
WooHoo!
As always, the "adults" head off to the local pub (LINKY) afterwards, just down the road from the Museum, on the corner of William St and Yurong St.
Hey what time does it go till. I have been wanting to come but have uni till 8 at unsw on wednesdays.
Depends on the meeting, doesn't have a set finish time. I think it usually finishes around 9-9:30 (I don't watch the time). Then us old people go down to the pub.
I have five rat cages for sale if anyone wants them, I'll take them to the meeting. They're the old lab type, suitable as a rat breeding cage or a large mouse tub. A few of the tops are a little rusty but they're still good, PM me.
According to the AHS website calendar tomorrow's guest speaker will be none other than Dr Hal Cogger.
I thought that Cogger had to cancel due to illness?
So who exactly is going to be speaking and on what topic?
Yes, Hal couldn't make it due to illness. Anthony Stimson will be talking about a trip to the Gulf / NW Qld he recently did. The AHS site is having some problems which we are trying to sort...
Anthony is talking? I better bring provisions and a sleeping bag then.
Oh and a big thank you to all those that supported me in the World's Greatest Shave last month.
My ears are now sadly very very cold and naked, but I managed to help raise over $2100 for the Leukaemia Foundation to help fund cancer research and to help those affected by blood diseases.
Photos of the Shave night can be found here
Sounds like it could be an interesting one but unfortunatly i wont be able to make it. Hope you guys have a blast. I should be at the next one!
mmmm, son just came back from footy training with a possible broken collar bone, at hospital now, doesn't look good for me....
Oooh, ouch! broken collarbones hurt :( hopefully he doesn't have that, takes ages to heal.
If anyone wants breeding rats (had one litter or coming up to their first) I've got some spare that I'd rather not cull because they're cute. Most of the females will be pregnant. And the males are really pretty.
Seems to be catching...is he getting enough milk?
hahaha, came back at me didn't it ;)... he drinks so much I should buy a cow...thats why it was only a fracture ;)
Hope he recovers OK. My broken legged son gets reviewed on Monday so hopefully the cast is off and we can reduce the milkshake bill!
Sorry to hear about your son Jason, hope he's alright. Though better than breaks, fractures are still no fun.
I can now confirm that there will be lollies - I repeat LOLLIES ;)
I think I bought too much, though so don't be shy and just ask :p
