Hi All,

I know people will have mixed views on the RSPCA, but I adopted my first family members from there yesterday, two little Eastern Stone geckos (diplodactylus vittatus) and I am thrilled. The gentleman in charge of the reptile section I spoke to was wonderful, he asked many questions and requested for photos of my setups and other animals, quarantine, sterilisation, feeding rosters etc., I was really impressed.

Apparently these little guys are wild caught and were intercepted after smugglers tried to get them out of the country. They have been in care for months now being rehabilitated and while the alternate was euthanasia, they really have bounced back so well and are happy, bright with plump tails and quite chilled. I am now setting up a couple of exo terra 30x30 cubes for them with excavator clay walls, sandy substrate and all the little gecko mod cons they could hope for. It's not the wild, and I feel terrible they can't go home, so I am hoping to replicate home for them (minus the predators) as best I can, given the bad turn in life they have endured so far.

I believe the work the RSPCA does is immense and while there may be some short falls with certain animals, I really do think they care and make a great difference to so many lives.
