The winter temps here average from 5 -15*C and gets even colder by about 5*C in my bottom floor shaded unit and its real hard to heat no insulation and old thin glass windows

i have a converted fish tank 1200 x 350 x 450 high its going to have 10mm foam underneath, on the back and both sides

my question is should i have heat cord at the cool end on a thermostat to keep the temp at 22*C ?
if yes what wattage do you recommend?

and is the heat mat I'm looking at getting any good it is the Habistat Heat Mat 430x280mm 20w
the thermostat is the Habistat Twin Channel Thermostat 300w (x2)
opinions??? please

I'm getting Stimson's Pythons they are going in a click clack to start with being small only around 50g but i want to get the viv set up w-a-y before they need it

Thank you heaps Kira

You will not need to heat their cool end. Provided his warm end is keeping him happy, at the temperature he needs, he will move around his tank to where he wants to be, you won't need to heat his cool end. If its too cold he just won't go there.
