I've got about 100fuzzies spread out between 3 tubs atm and over 100 in the freezer, at those prices I'm rich:|

If I knew a shop was charging $45 for 10 pinkies I would be breeding them myself and asking the shop manager what are they prepared to purchase them for.

We sell frozen laboratory mice in our store, I am betting they are the same frozen laboratory frozen mice sold in cairns, our price is alittle under the $45.00 mark though at $14.95 per pack of 10, Maybe i should up my price a bit, after all I do own one of those horribly evil pet stores, we are the same just in it for the money and no idea what we are talking about.
On behalf of all pet store owners I apologise for being a retarded scrooge trying to pick your pocket for everything you have.

If you need some live food we're in Carins, we only breed rats (our snakes are too big for mice!) but we've got pinkies at the monent....cheap if you pick up!

Why not sell them to the shop very cheap, or better still give them away, to get the prices down?

The problem is in cairns is that they will only sell a certain brand of frozen (won't mention brand) and a few stores here are the same. This brand will only sell the shops limited numbers in cairns so they are very expensive. When I was up there an adult rat (medium) cost me 21.00 each. When you need about 10 to feed your animals it was easier to breed them.
The reason for this is also we were told that rats can pick up a virus in the tropical climates that can be passed on to humans so there are a lot of people scared to breed their own.

check the list of APS sponsers they all will freight mice/rats to your nearest airport and will be way cheaper even with freight cost

Even if you were to give them away pet shops will still charge a mark up to cover overheads etc. Prices from petshops will always remain more than private breeders prices due to this.

Breed your own, i actually went into a pet shop last night in melbourne on ballarat road sunshine and they wanted 22$ for a bag of wood shavings. When everywhere else there 10$ tops. I said to the woman is that for real she said yeah so i laughed in her face and walked out. Denny Crane doesnt get ripped off!

hey what pet shop was that from? i go past sunshine on a regular basis, might go in for a laugh.

They know that we'll never willingly give up our reptiles for a thing like food prices, so they
take advantage of that.

These are our prices but as you say shops have overheads
