Hey everyone

i have been getting some quotes online and over the phone today, and some have had a reasonable few hundred bucks difference i was happy with the first one then the next quote was nearly half that

does anyone have any companies to reccomend?

thanks :)

have u tried AAMI, they were half the price of the one i was with previously,...

Youi or bingle.

They are the cheapest by far.

Both can give you an online quote...;)

Yeah try AAMI. I have always used them and were pretty good.
Even when I had to make a claim they were easy to deal with.

I was sent one from NRMA they quoted $490 and just about freaked out.So i tried AAMI they told me $323 so guess which one i chose?lol.

I stuck with NRMA as aami, bingle, youi and carsaver gave me really crap market/agreed value prices for my car. NRMA agreed value was $18,000 as opposed to the rest only wanted to give me $11,000. Big difference.

ok ill try aami i havent called them yet i found the cheapest so far was budgetdirect, but i will call aami now

also the person im looking at buying the car from has his with commonwealth, has anyone gone through them before i havent bothered calling them at all?

buget direct is another one that is the cheapest but give you a crap market/agreed value. the were the worst of all of them..commonwealth bit expensive. ur doing the right thing, just keep shopping around. you will find the one that suits :)

I had mine insured with AAMI for 27k and car was worth 15k....
I was able to say what amount I wanted it insured for.

I'd been with AAMI for years and stopped even bothering ringing around, but one year did and was surprised NRMA were cheaper than AAMI. This was at the time AAMI was saying the average person saved $423 on their car insurance or whatever. Wonder what 'average' is then?

Currently Shannons is regularly cheaper and they do 'normal' cars although you have to show you are a 'car enthusiast'. Sit down and work out what car events you go to, what performance car forums you are on, and show you do some minor work on your car and see if you can get through.

i have never had shannons come in cheaper for cars, however when you start to heavily modify cars they are usually the only ones that will insure you. They did come in cheapest when i had my harley however.

just spoke to aami now there cheapest so far out of banksa budget and aami, the guy at aami said that id pay $700 excess if i hit anyone or something if its over a certain price but anyone els would only pay $400
(i dont have my full licence still to lazy to go and get it lol)

aami seems to be pretty good thanks guys :) i might still call this NRMA that u guys are talking about but aami's price is cheap anyway

thanks :D

hey, i just bought a brand new car from westpoint auto and they were great to deal with, i went through them for the finance and it endded up being way cheaper than any bank i was quoted. i got a fixed rate of 8.9% for 5 years. i also did a lot of research into insurance and found that yes aami was the cheapest but through research and reviews that they were really bad to deal with, so i ended up choosing RACQ because they have a great reputation.... in the end you dont want cheap and nasty...

I am with CUMA - through Australian Central Credit Union and have always been excellent to deal with, so didnt bother shopping around to geta better price as i am happy to pay what i am for the service i am getting.

Some idiot hit my Kia Carnival 2 weeks ago, only had to get one quote, and when booking it in to get fixed the repairer said i was going to be charged $22 a day for the hire car, so i rang the insurance company back, and they said not to bother and to go to any car hire company and they will pay for it as long as the car is equivilant size or smaller than what i am driving (the kia) so instead of paying $22 a day for a cheap ****ty bomb repair car i get a nice clean looked after hire car for the week.

seeing as ur profile says ur a chick try 'first for women' (google it) they have cheaper prices than aami but thats only if a female is driving, if theres going to be a regular male driver itd be around the same price as aami and you have to state that just a female is driving and all that

I was with aami and went to real insurance, they give you money back in 3 years if you don't make any claims, and the rates were good too.

We are with AAMI, and although they a re easy to deal with and get your car fixed quickly - be very careful of the excesses that you have to pay.
may daughter had an accident in our vehicle and because she is under 24 we had to pay the base amount excess of $500 PLUS an extra $600 because she is under 24.
Athough they have looked after us - after me sending photos and diagrams of the accident site through - they a re refunding the excess to me as they do beleive that my dayghter is at fault.
I was nearly considering looking elswhere - but did not find anyone with the premiums to match AAMI, and we prefer to stay with a big name Insurance company.

Be careful with aami, they do provide cheap insurance but you dont get much for the money you spend.
Im insured with mutual community and the policy entitles me to 1 new window every year, overnight accomodation if i have an accident and cant get home, any valuables ie ipod or gps ect that get stolen from my car i can claim excess free and i can choose my own repairer plus lots of minor things you wouldnt think of until they happen.
Also from a tradesmen point of view (qualified automotive spraypainter) aami can be brutal on cutting quotes which means that reflects on the quality of parts being put on your car in the event of an accident.
One last thing to look into is can you choose your own repairer?A lot of insurance companies now have collision centres where you take your car after a crash and they take care of the rest, which means photos are put on the internet and repairers Australia wide bid for the tender and the cheapest gets the job and your car gets sent anywhere to be fixed.

I bought a second hand car recently and was calling around for insurance quotes, I think I called NRMA, Alliance, QBE, Suncorp, RACQ and AAMI ... I was getting quotes around $1700, $2200, $2700! and then AAMI quoted me around $600... I called them back just to make sure they entered all the details right 'cause I thought something must have stuffed up since it was so much cheaper.. but no, they were just cheaper, so I went with them. They put me on a better rating than the other companies too and the agreed market value of my car is more than what I paid for it so I'm pretty happy.
