We are in the priliminary design phase for a new product which we would like to see released around the 1st quarter of 2011. We are designing something which will allow for the glass of your enclosure (new enclosures at this stage) to automatically close without the use of electronics. It also means there is nothing visible other than the Antaresia Acrylic Finger Grips we stock.

You can select any combination, it's a multiple choice poll.

If this is hard to notice, i will just make all polls have this option where applicable in the future.

If have a few 4ft enclosures stacked.... the bottom door one always wears the grunt of the weight..... or could just be my uneven floor!

Yeah it's a bummer to come back to the tiger snake enclosure (in the house) to find the glass on the other side had opened an inch

I make it a habit to triple check my glass is closed. It's an easy habit to get into!

I'd chose "all of the above" myself. Any one of those points can be annoying :p

sounds like a good excuse to go herping to me, and you dont even have to leave the house

This would all be due to the construction of the enclosures themselves. Rather than having what would be a superior strengthened surrounding frame to the glass, supporting the enclosures themselves would fix this far more effectively. I would suggest that you source framework which encases the enclosures on "shelves" so the frame takes the load and not the enclosures. I am sure that when they were made, they weren't intended for such weight to be supported.

Alternatively, you can get the glass cut down so there is more clearance. Although the enclosure (depending on what it is made from) will bow further, and after sometime you may end up with the same problem.

After some research into this, we have devised a system to automatically close at about 100-50mm from the end of the run. Also a system to drastically reduce the occurance of sand and gravel in the tracks! Currently given the design features of this product, a 1st Quarter 2011 Release is not possible. We cannot give an estimation of the release time for this, however as always we will keep you all updated with its progress. But this will be a track like you have never seen before!

After an initial design phase and research into materials we are closer to finalising a design and later quoting.

The good thing is we dont have to get the key part of the track custom made - which vastly reduces cost and therefore cost to you.

Will keep you informed as this progresses.

i'll go with all of them, and for other i am going to put forward the gap between the pieces of glass, i've tried a few different methods to close this and cant find one that looks good

Also the price of glass can often cost the price of the rest of the enclosure.. thats my biggest complaint :)

id have to agree with most people here, little bits of substrate getting stuck in the tracks sucks ***, i found best way to get rid of them hand smudges is to go to a window/glass door shop and grab some handles and silicone them on. that way you can use handles to open the doors and clean them with a damp cloth and dry em for a nice shine :)
