Long story cut short. My brother and sister where handling my big Coastal and I was sort of half having a nap on the loungeroom floor. The big guy comes over to say hi to me, snuggles into my side and flops his head down on mine and just relax's for a while. My sister thinks this is very cute and takes a pic. Pic makes it to facebook, Aunty from NSW shares the pic and

BAM

It all starts.

Many comments about how I'm an irresponsible owner for letting it roam whist I'm asleep..... But yeh anyway

Many more saying how beautiful my diamond python is.... Well ok

Then the rest of the comments start.

A few 'snake lovers' start warning me my python is going to eat me and also that many (many!) Owners who keep free range pythons (?) Wake up too late to save themselves from being constricted to death and even a story about a friend who sold his spotted python (!) After it sized him up and then didn't eat for a month to make room.

22.comments in next to no time and honestly I've just about run out of energy to correct them time and time again

Ha ha, how did the person think a spotted python was going to eat im, one finger at a time

Wait, are you talking about your brother here? Or the snake?:D :) :)

My brother probably has more hope of eating me!

He's sizing you up for sure! Better keep one eye open from now on. Never know when the man-eater will strike.
Seriously though that's one of the coolest (it would be unmanly for me to call it cute) pics I've seen on here in a while

Yeah he could so eat you for breakfastand then have your sister for lunch and your brother for dinner, better watch out mate.

Cute!

It's so weird the number of times I've heard the story about 'a friend of a friend had a python who sized them up to eat them'. Is that just me?

Nope not just you.. i had to get my teacher to sign my Reptile license form... and he said he had to tell me that story before signing just so i know what I'm getting into lol

DeadCricket, you should know that people in toowoomba have nothing better to do!! I think the pic is awesome by the way!

As soon as a snake starts to size you up it's time to move it on , sorry.

I just wish i could lay on the floor likenthat and fall asleep without kids crash tackling me

So we shall just swap snakes? I'm sure a few of yours have sized you up. At least you look more like food! Haha

The sad thing is, this isn't even Toowoomba people. I'm not even really Toowoomba people lol

Haha cheers mate. He is a very affectionate snake

Because I'm so tall its easy enough for him to cuddle up to me. He acts like a cuddly lil hatchie who just wants to hide in your pocket lol, just a HUUUGE cuddly little hatchie

I've just posted this pic

To her profile to hopefully show that a person would have to be as big as a Jumbo rat to be worried

hahaha thats no way your fualt. but its cute anyway. i dont understand why people think aussie pythons can eat a person, a scrubby the largest of our pythons would eat a small dog and have trouble so why would a 6foot person be on the menu? duhhhhh

Sigh, nice pic, but honestly, facebook (actually, all forums etc) should have an IQ requirement for people to post comments on your page. Do people really believe that crap story? I had one guy tell me I was communing with the devil and was going to hell for having pet snakes....now where's that 'facepalm' button?

There's pics out there of a BHP eating a large Yellow Spotted Monitor, I reckon a scrubby could take a smaller person. But you're right, Aussie pythons are no real threat.
