why would you?

Zoos do it because they have to have all animals microchipped, but no point for a single owner to do it

if someone finds it they arent going to take it to a vet to get it scanned

for proof of ownership more or less

proof to who?

thats what the licensing system is basically for
I had a snake stolen by my ex after a whole year of trying to get her back she was critically ill and died from poor husbandry. I had no way of getting her back prior my licence only said "children's python no proof that she was the actual snake

Hi Tahliaaa
If the snake was on your license, you probably could have had your ex charged for stealing ? Was he licensed to keep it ?
In my opinion, microchipping could help prove ownership if your snake was ever stolen. My vet , who keeps diamond pythons himself, quoted about $60 per snake. Up to you i guess. Good luck.

I have ALL of my Snakes Microchipped and registered, Why? If they get stolen which is always a possibility these days, they are readilly identifiable by Police and Vets so I have a good chance of getting them back. I love my babies and want to make sure that I have the best chance of getting them back if the worst should happen.

If its a peace of mind go for it but on the other side it would be extremely rare that a snake would be scanned. Seized or unlicensed animals dont get scanned. Normally its straight to another home.

Yes she is on my licence I’m definitely looking into this

My companion license doesn't list anything about my bearded dragon aside from the fact that I have one.
When he turns 1 in January and finishes growing, I'll be getting him chipped so that if anything terrible ever happens I can prove he is mine.

No matter the animal, chipping just seems smart.
