Hello I thought I’d share with you all my Facebook page.

I’m in the process of creating a PDF with links and QR code’s on husbandry and care guidelines of all Australian reptiles available in captivity.

our QR code system is very simple as is our PDF website links.

In order to read the QR code’s you will need a QR code reader app that can read QR code’s from images already taken.

We’ve created this QR system so you can print off a copy and put it on the enclosure with said species of reptile,
thus giving you easy access to your reptiles careguides/husbandry manuals each QR code will direct you to the link of your reptiles careguide when scanned via QR scanner.

In our PDF we have an example photo of how you could use this QR code on your enclosures
Along with how to use the QR code.

Our system is as straight forward as we could possibly make it,
giving you the “reptile keeper” the advantage of being able to find all Australian reptile care guides in one place,
via an easy to use and understandable PDF and QR code system.

our PDF and page are still in its infancy, so far we only have three reptiles available on our PDF.
These reptiles are as follows.

- the spotted python
- the woma python
- Morelia spilota imbricata

We are aiming to have all 612 species in our PDF.

Starting with:
Australian pythons,
non python species
venomous snake species lizards
turtles
and finally amphibians.

please do check out our page, and please let me know what you think of my PDF.

Will it be worth it?

As I myself have had extreme troubles finding just 2 husbandry manual PDFs online,

So it led me to come up with this idea.

Please when you comment your thoughts can you let me know if there are any errors within the PDF so I can fix it.

Side note this is a non for profit
I do not accept payments of any kind.

So please do not ask how much my products are they are free and only need an internet connection to view and a browser lol.

in hindsight its a great idea, and thats where it ends

you wont find care guides for all the species lol - thats what books like keeping and breeding snakes/lizards/monitors are for

keep it to the 10-15 basic species that are actually kept, noone needs guide lines for a species that only 3 people own, and you wont find those guidelines
read the guides you're putting up, because 2 of the 3 guides you have put up are written for a cert3 course, the other one is a study on wild animals and has next to nothing to do with husbandry care -Biology of the south‐west carpet python (Morelia spilota imbricata): is there evidence for mesopredator release in response to fox baiting?

+ you havent given any credits, your fb page is the same, you're just googling "speciesname + care" then posting the first result lol

edit: not to mention, majority of "husbandry guidelines" are for the keeping of animals in zoo settings where they must follow strict guidelines

Yes the PDFs still In development and is not fully complete it’s just an example so far to show what the PDF will be yes it may be hard to get all the species care guides together
That’s understandable
I was going to give credits in the PDF in the last pages along with contacts of those credited along with all the herpetological societies links that are necessary
As well as reptile parks wildlife conservation centre and csiro
And I’ve read two of the manuals yes they state the needs/requirements the enviroment taxonomy amongst some other stuff I believe the only one I havnt fully read is the Morelia spillota imbricata.
As stated above they are just examples so far and the final PDF created will be of standard with all the guidlines
I didn’t find the first link in the web description I’ve actually hand picked these that took about 3 hours among others I am yet to add.
I appreciate your feedback it’s really good to have honest feed back and is valued greatly
May I ask what do you think of the QR system
And also do you think reptile parks and reptile retailers would want to have this at their disposal obviously no price added at all it’s completely free

i may be wrong but i believe people use those qr codes on their enclosures for their "written notes" so they can scan them and then access a feed/shed history sheet that they can update

nope, they have records and guidelines and books for every species they keep

Ok yes that’s fair

Yes also your right on that I’ve seen others using the QR code’s for details like last feed ect but havnt seen it for care guides before

He means its not a subspecies of morelia spilota. Its morelia imbricata
Yes thankyou
Yes i know that this particular pdf i was working on was for all species of reptile not just carpet pythons.
Its for lizards snakes and amphibians well atoeast all the ones you can leggaly keep in captivity

I can't wait to start seeing care guides for the lesser known animals! Trying to find cohesive information has been an absolute nightmare and people tend to direct you to books or sources that have been out of print for years.

Perhaps focus on the Companion/R1 listed animals first? After all no-reptiles to one-reptile is the biggest learning curve of them all.
