Hi,
My name is Mikey, I am a fellow herper and student film maker at AFTRS (Australian Film Television & Radio School). So excited to be a part of this forum. Myself and a few other film students are developing our graduating short drama film this summer. We're looking for a large friendly python (any species), and an owner who would be keen for them to star in a couple shots December 2021. The scene will have a reptile obsessed woman (30s) with a large snake around her neck as she chats to her frightened neighbour by the front door. The snake would only be in three shots. Send me a message if you and your lovely snake are interested :)

Looking forward to chatting with you all!

Warm regards,
Mikey

hi Mikey, this sounds like a great idea and I hope you get what you are after...not sure if this will be on tv or just to your supervisors (if it is to end on TV you will want a knowledgeable person rather than a "reptile obsessed" lady, Seen plenty of reptile lover snake kissing noodle cuddlers give out bad information so it would be a bit awkward on tv if information is incorrect, but if its just to a small audience i doubt anyone will notice)

However you/the owner may run into a few issues, specifically that the owners can not display their reptiles for a film without an exhibition license (near impossible to get unless you're a wildlife park, zoo, or mobile exhibition)... aswell as the snake can not leave the property it is licensed for unless the purpose of the trip is to sell it, or take to the vets

I would recommend talking to the person whos snake you eventually end up using and asking if they want their name in the credits or not... for reasons stated above
chats to her frightened neighbour by the front door
The neighbour would have to come to the Python owners front door

Hope that clears a few things up, unfortunaly OEH are very annoying like this

but best of luck and hope you succeed!

Disregard all this information and just leave out any details about the animal used in filming. Even if Department of Native flora and forna saw the film I can 99.99% guarantee they wouldn’t even think twice about where or who the animal came from. Just make sure you write up a quick agreement with the snakes owner that if it does havs a bad dat and bite someone that the owner isn’t liable for anything (a python bite however big does hurt at the time but thats about it). I would gladly let you use my girl but she’s a b**** cause I don’t handle her regularly but if I still had my previous guy Blocker he’d have been awesome for it.
