Hi, what animal is it for?Hi, I am building a melamine enclosure, looking for some advice on how I would work out what wattage to purchase for a ceramic heat emitter, my enclosure is 1800mm x 900mm x 600mm.
Thanks in advance
What temp is your house and what temp do you need inside the enclosure?Hi, I am building a melamine enclosure, looking for some advice on how I would work out what wattage to purchase for a ceramic heat emitter, my enclosure is 1800mm x 900mm x 600mm.

Agreed. CHE's are crap.As stated already, forget the CHE. You could also consider insulating the enclosure to save electricity.
Thanks for replying, but I am happy to use the ceramic and have for about 8 years. Thanks againThe best advice in regards to ceramic heat emitters is not to use them; choose an alternative. They're garbage and there are better alternatives which are cheaper to run, cheaper to buy, more reliable, more convenient, more natural, safer, etc.
Generally, a heat cord or heat mat is the best alternative.
Hi thanks for replying. I am located south of Sydney, so it does drop down in Temp. Heaps of sun and I have a wood fire that keeps the house nice. I have not had any luck using cords and mats in the past. Also over the years I have seen some damage from mats. My enclosure is build and just doing the finishing touches. My snake has always had the ceramic so she is used to it. I really just need some advise on how to work it out. Thanks againWhat temp is your house and what temp do you need inside the enclosure?
I live in the tropics so a 50w makes a nice cosy 32+ degree spot up in the top right area of my 900 x 600 x 1000 (triangular floorplan).
Keep in mind my house temp barely drops below 26deg! So I reckon you are up for more than 50w, put it that way
And if I knew what I know now, I would have built heat mats into my design but oh well...
Ok mate If you're on the CHE bandwagon (like me) i will show you what I did with mine to make it work for me (up here in the tropics). Thanks for replying, but I am happy to use the ceramic and have for about 8 years. Thanks again

Appreciate everyone replying. I am not looking at changing the heat set up as my girl is used to it, she was a rescue that had a horrible beginning and this will be her last enclosure in size. So I was hoping just for some advice on how to work out the wattage for the area. Thanks again
