There have been a couple of threads recently which contained posts that are clear breaches of the rules. I'm referring to the threads that attacked the reputation of a member, who also happens to be a sponsor of the site. That fact has nothing to do with the action taken (removing the threads). We send a welcome letter to all new users that contain the following statements :
"We don't care who you are - as long as you behave yourself on the site! We have a list of rules, and I suggest you read through these before you become active on the site. Multiple breaches of the rules will result in suspension, and, eventually, deletion of your account."
"Please take the time to read the rules of the site."

All members should read and become familiar with the rules of the site. Attacks against ANY member will result in disciplinary action.
Some of the rules that apply in this case are:
2. Be nice to other members and respect their privacy. Any name calling or general nastiness will not be tolerated. You will be given a warning and a chance to apologise, however if not done so, the above penalties WILL be applied.
5. If you have a problem with the site or any other member, please PM a moderator and we'll look into it. Most members are not interested in public feuds, so don't post your argument in the forums.
6. If you have a beef with someone and don't want to have the moderators handle it, then PM (Private Message) them directly. Fights in forums bring the whole feel of the community down and will not be tolerated. Any comments or arguments in the forums may be deleted without notice at the sole discretion of the moderators and administrators. Decisions on any such action will be at the sole discretion of the admins/moderators.

This feedback should always be in the form of a PM to a moderator. This will then be evaluated by all moderators. If the negative feedback outweights the positive, then the reviews of that supplier will be removed. We do NOT post negative reviews of anyone, for what should be obvious legal reasons.
Part of the instructions for this forum are :
"...try to be as objective and unemotional as possible, and only state the facts.
Further to that, if the vast majority of members give good reviews, then single bad reviews will probably be ignored.
It's an unfortunate fact that EVERY business has a few people that it cannot satisfy. We will base our decision on the majority decision. Negative reviews WILL be kept on file and we will review these from time to time and adjust the reviews in this forum accordingly.
Do NOT post negative reviews in the forums!"
I hope this clarifies the situation. If you feel that this approach is unfair, you are welcome to PM a moderator and all moderators will discuss your objection. However, at all times, rule 13 applies:

We will not tolerate open criticism of the site, or the way it is run, in any of our forums. It is privately run and is not a democracy. We do the work in running the site, so we control how it is run. If you find that objectionable, please feel free to move elsewhere. Otherwise, we welcome your input and hope that you will enjoy your experience on APS.
