AN ambulance helicopter is taking a teenage boy bitten twice by a tiger snake from Kinglake, northeast of Melbourne, to the Royal Children's Hospital.

A Metropolitan Ambulance Service spokesman said paramedics were called shortly after 12.30pm (AEST).

The teenager was initially treated by Rural Ambulance Service officers before the Metropolitan Ambulance Service helicopter was called in.

The spokesman said details of the bite victim's condition was not yet available.
