Hi guys just wanted to know if you can breed beardies from the same clutch?
is it the same as with pythons?thanks mitch :D

Some say yes, some say no, there are no obvious effects from doing it for a few generations but it is better to use unrelated pairs unless you are linebreeding for a specific trait.

like Rennie said some say yes and some say no but i dont think there is any proven reason not too.

I know of pythons being bred with siblings for at least 6 generations. Some even back to the mother of them all or father etc. No ill effects yet anyway, but you would think they would have showed by now.

I kept related eastern beardies when i was younger and they never succesfully bred and the female only laid one egg that i found and i think it probably wasnt fertile. Back then i thought it would have been wrong to breed them so i didnt make any effort to try.
Im sure plenty of ppl have done it but you would be better getting unrelated ones IMO. I remember someone saying somewhere that they may not breed if they are related but im not sure how common that would be.

Pythons are differant, as far as i know its fine to inbreed them. It is a good way of knowing the snakes are the same locality too.
