I hope to get a Diamond python that is a few months old in the next month or so.
I have a number of questions around heating?
1. I'm planning to put a heat mat under the warm hide (Heat mat glass bottom of enclosure, thermostat probe bedding then Hide over the top. Should this be infra Red or a standard convection heat mat? What temperature do recommend for a baby?
As Diamonds are nocturnal I'm thinking of a ceramic or heat projector for nocturnal basking, which do you recommend if any at all?. I live in Melbourne Australia and the house is only heated from about 6pm - 10pm. should I put a lower temperature heat mat in the cool part of the enclosure say at 24C?
There will be of course climbing branches, throughout the enclosure.
Thanks

when i kept diamonds,i used a 2.0 natural sunlight bulb, personally i would not use heat mats, they preffer to bask in the heat as apposed to bottom heat from a mat

diamonds are true cold weather pythons

i recomend the book...

Keeping and Breeding Australian Pythons is the first of Mike Swan's

it's all you will need to keep you right on diamonds

If you get a baby it needs a click clak plastic tub with a couple of strands of low wattage heat chord.
