I was wondering if anyone can tell me if it is ok to use styrofoam to insulate my class tank for my Stimson. The temp falls to much at night. What are other good things to use for insulation?

You can but put it on the outside, another way to help hold the heat in is to paint it black before putting it on. Thats the main problem with tank they loose to much heat, your better off using a wood cage with a glass front.

what i do is put 3mm plywood on the inside as insulation. That way it keeps the heat in and also gives them a rough surface to shed against.

I am currently using a couple of glass tanks for my lizards until I build my enclosures. I have insulated with styrofoam on the OUTSIDE of the tanks and it works well.

Is there anything you can put over the glass to help retain heat i.e. clear stick on bookcover type stuff?
