Hi All

New to the snake keeping business - we have bought our son a Stimson Python hatchling for his birthday called Ramen. Lots of unknowns for us so hopefully this forum will be lots of help in the future. He is shedding at the moment and his skin is just coming off in pieces and is taking awhile so hoping that will all come off soon. Looking forward to learning more.

Cheers

Cute little snake.

If your snake is shedding in pieces you'll want to deal with it. As Herpetology says it's caused by humidity being too low. For now you'll want to get him nice and wet and then make sure the skin comes off. A popular method is to put them into a wet pillow case. I personally put small snakes like that into a small tub filled with a lot of moist, crumbled paper towel. Leave for a couple of hours or so and hopefully the snake will do the job on its own. If not it'll need assistance.

Most importantly, you'll want to address the cause of the issue to prevent it happening again. A larger water bowl is usually the easiest solution. Also make sure the enclosure doesn't have too much ventilation (yes, that is possible in some situations and is reasonably common) and isn't in a dry, drafty area.
