Hi

Just trying to find out what the differene between lizards and dragons are.
If anyone can help?:D

all dragons are lizards, not all lizards are dragons, dragons are a type of lizard

besides the fact dragons are lizards, what type of lizards do you mean? skinks, geckos, legless, monitors?

dragons are the 2nd largest family of lizards (i think, not sure) with monitors being the largest? dragons love heat. i think all dragons are durinal and most if not all geckos are nocturnal

Actually scincidae is the largest lizards family with over 1,300 species, The monitor famlily is one of the smallest comprising only about 50-60 species worldwide

lol yes, the largest lizards are monitors, both heaviest and longest.

You wouldnt want to get to technical considering the name of the site is Aussie pythons AND snakes :?

Dragons are a family of lizards called Agamidae which belongs to the sub-order of Sauria which is all lizards. Basically, its a common name refering to scientific classification, kinda like saying Carpet python rather than Morelia spilota.... if that makes any sense? So, dragons are a type of lizard, just like monitors (varanidae) are a type of lizards, and skinks (scincidae) and so on.
