Franklin is our almost 2 year old macleay river turtle and he’s always been healthy and very energetic. The last day he has become obsessed with moving a rock around his tank. Day and night he is pushing it around. When he is coming up to the top of the tank for air he is making a little squeak sound. Is this serious? Is he just tired from moving his rock around and rushing up to the top for air and going back to his rock? He is eating well and doesn’t make the sound when out of water or breathing normally.

Hello, remove the rock, a turtle's aquarium should contain no decor that is harder than its own shell, using rocks, stones, gravel etc is a recipe for disaster. Replace any rocks with pieces of driftwood and aquarium gravel with natural river sand mixed with calgrit instead. As for the squeak you're hearing, probably just the result of exertion, I wouldn't be concerned unless your turtle starts hauling out of the water and basking/docking excessively with bubbles coming from its nostrils.
