I have a wooden viv with a ceramic tile on top of a heat mat. I see people saying that any kind of sticky tape in a vivarium is bad. Is there another way I can stick the probe to the tile? Some sort of non toxic glue perhaps? I'm thinking I could put the probe between the heat mat and tile (which I've attached a photo of) but I'm not sure if that will give an accurate reading of the actual tile? I'm stuck and get my snake in a few days. Please help!

I had the same issue, the best way to get an accurate reading is to have the probe on top of the tile and most people do this by using little suction cups that you can attach to the cord to keep the probe in place - but I found my snake often knocked that loose or would lie directly on top of the probe and mess up the reading. The way I got around it was to just put glue a bottle cap to the tile with a tiny but of super glue, cut out a little slot for the probe to lie in and then I poked a few holes in the top so air could circulate through. The glue hasn't been an issue, I just made sure it was thoroughly dry before I let the snake anywhere near it, and then put substrate on top.
