Police say an 11-year-old North Carolina boy was bitten on the hand by an alligator at a northern Indiana amusement park after a man invited nearby children to pet the 2-foot-long reptile.

Maybe they thought it would just lick him! :lol: But in all fairness.....it does say the children were invited to pat it......just as they do here at our zoo......both my children have had pics taken patting the crocs at Australia Zoo, it is the keeper/handlers job to ensure it is done safely, & as a parent you do trust that they would prevent this from happening!

dont they usually secure the crocs jaws? i remember in townsvilles billabong sanctuary they had a rubber band around its jaw so these things wouldnt happen

Did you read the article? The guy that wanted people to pat the gator drove off in a pickup truck after the incident so he probably wasnt an employee
