I recently read in the Steve Wilson/Gerry Swan field guide under the section for S.challengeri "Restricted to McPherson Ra. and hinterland, from sea-level to 500m."
I know the guide is usually only so specific in altitude when there is good reason to believe the animal in question does only occur within those altitudes.
My question is does anyone know what the evidence suggesting this for the species is or any other reason the book would give this information for altitude.
I bring this up only because I recently saw some of these at close to 1000m and thought it a bit odd the book was so specific that they shouldn't be so high.
