Snake ID - Blue Mtns

Hiya,

This has been basking in the sun in a neighbours garden for a couple of days........
It's about 1.2-1.5m long in Blue Mountains. Wondering what it is ?

yep, highland copperhead. can tell by the stripey lips. Beautiful snake (my fav elapid), you're very lucky!!

and yeah, venomous so stay at a safe distance as mentioned above.

Thanks - I took 30 or so pics. He's in Blackheath at 1000m - pretty chilly up here ATM - around 6C at night & just over 10C during the day.
