Sugar Cane Mulch

Is sugar cane mulch a suitable substrate. I intend on getting an antaresia species. I also have some coir peat mulch, can they be used together If suitable. Any advice appreciated.

my son uses sugar cane mulch for his Ants, peat mulch can be dusty if not kept damp.
I use chipsi or aspen for my Ants
