Hi,
I am asking this question for a friend. Do you know any beginner lizards apart from blue tongues or bearded dragons. Thinking of ackies but not sure.
 
shinglebacks, also not cheap compared to either a beardie or eastern/blotched bluetongue.(then again the shingleback is part of the tiliqua genus, so it is a bleutongue...but oh well.)
 
Marbled Geckos,very easy care for them with the advantage of being small.Not a handling lizard though.
