hi! i’m interested in getting a velvet gecko and am finding it hard to find consistent information on their care. Does anyone know any good websites or experience tips on them. I also have noticed a variety in their appearance which might me different morphs or something but it would be good if someone could explain that (i attached photos of the two types i’ve seen listed for sale)!

Hey poppywood! I don't have any tips on care but I do know they are simple to keep and don't require alot of special treatment. But I can help with the colours, you see there are a bunch of different velvet gecko species all different and unique in there own ways! I recommend arod.com.au for a list of australian reptile species, you can find alot of gecko info there! I hope you end up getting one of these beautiful geckos and I wish you luck! :) I also attached a velvet gecko care sheet for a little information.

:)

Thank you! The care sheet was really helpful and i’ll definitely look to buy one now. However even with the website you suggested i still can’t work out what breed of velvet gecko the one i see people selling is (the only reason i’m checking is because i want to make sure it is under my wildlife licence). I’ve found another example below and it would be great if anyone could work out what breed it is exactly!

The one in that photo is Oedura marmorata or the (marbled velvet gecko)

It is on most standard licenses (depending on where you live) and is the most common you will see in the pet trade. Hope this helps!
