I've never heard of one until today, what is it?

That's the same as a "Clayton's King Brown"! You know, the king brown snake you have when your not having a king brown !!

I vaguely recall someone calling P. Weigeli a False King Brown and I believe the " Psued" in Pseudechis means "False" in latin.

Well, Pseudonaja means "False Cobra". There is also a "False King Brown Snake". Is that what you are referring to?

Yes, it's Pseudechis weigeli. It was originally synonymous with Pseudechis australis (King Brown/Mulga). The other, more commonly used name for it Pygmy Mulga.
